US PAYMENT SYSTEM POLICY ISSUES- FASTER PAYMENTS AND INNOVATION
This course examines technological innovation in payment systems generally and particular policy issues as a result of retail (i.e., point of sale) payment innovation.
We will discuss wholesale payment, clearing, and settlement systems that send payment messages between banks and transfer funds, including the “real-time payments” service being introduced by the Federal Reserve.
We will also examine interbank payment, clearing, and settlement systems related to US payments.
