MARKETPLACE LENDING- FINTECH IN CONSUMER AND SMALL-BUSINESS LENDING
This course examines marketplace lending, a type of nonbank lending, done by online companies that make loans to consumers, and small businesses, using innovative technology.
The marketplace-lending industry has experienced rapid growth, and with that growth, an increase in scrutiny by regulators, the media, and the public.
Marketplace lending could create both benefits and risks, and it raises several policy questions.
In this course, we will first look at an overview of the marketplace-lending industry. Then, we’ll analyze the potential benefits, and risks the industry creates.
Next, we’ll discuss the existing regulation relevant, to marketplace lending, before examining some regulatory issues surrounding the industry.
We’ll conclude the course with an examination of possible future developments.
