LAWS GOVERNING FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS
This course delves into the complex regulatory framework that governs financial institutions in the United States and internationally. Drawing on legal theories, landmark cases, and current events, the course will explore how laws and regulations impact the operations of banks, investment companies, and insurance firms, among others. Topics will include the Banking Act of 1933 (Glass-Steagall), the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, anti-money laundering laws, and the laws governing digital currencies and financial technology (FinTech).
