INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY- Junior Law Program

This course provides an in-depth examination of Intellectual Property (IP) law, including the legal frameworks governing copyrights, patents, trademarks, and trade secrets. Students will study the constitutional basis for IP protection, statutory and common law regimes, and the policy rationales underpinning each area.

The course also explores the legal mechanisms that balance the rights of creators and inventors with public access, competition, and free expression. Topics include infringement and enforcement, fair use, secondary liability, the registration process, and remedies. Students will gain insights into how IP law is applied in evolving contexts such as artificial intelligence, digital platforms, fashion, and global trade.

Course Objectives

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

2. Identify the legal requirements for obtaining and enforcing copyright, patent, trademark, and trade secret rights.
