Financial Accounting is the language of business. Every organization—whether a startup, nonprofit, privately owned company, or publicly traded corporation—relies on financial accounting to measure performance, communicate financial health, attract investors, secure financing, comply with regulations, and support informed decision-making. Managers who understand financial accounting are better equipped to evaluate business performance, identify risks, communicate with stakeholders, and make sound strategic decisions.
This course introduces students to the practical principles and applications of financial accounting from a managerial perspective. Rather than training students to become professional accountants, the course focuses on helping future managers understand how financial information is created, interpreted, and used in real business environments. Students will learn how business transactions are recorded, how financial statements are prepared, and how those statements provide critical insights into an organization’s financial position and operating performance.
Throughout the course, students will develop the ability to read and interpret financial reports, evaluate corporate financial health, understand the accounting treatment of common business activities, recognize the limitations of financial statements, and use accounting information to support management decisions.
