This course provides an in-depth study of Employment Law, focusing on the legal rights and responsibilities that govern the employer–employee relationship. It examines common law doctrines, major federal statutes, state regulations, and emerging trends that affect how employment is structured, regulated, and litigated in the United States.
Students will explore topics such as employment-at-will, wrongful discharge, workplace discrimination and harassment, wage and hour laws, employee privacy, workplace safety, collective bargaining, and noncompete agreements. Emphasis will be placed on interpreting statutory language, understanding regulatory agency functions, and evaluating the broader social and economic policies underlying employment protections.
Course Objectives
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
